Hi there, buddy.Different people have different styles when it comes to writing their essays or personal statements. There is no “best style.” But you definitely need to cover some crucial questions to make your personal statement useful and meaningful.
Basically, you need to make the following questions clear: “What’s your career goal and path?” “Why do you want to apply for this school or program, and how do you expect this education to help you?” “Why should this program accept you, when compared to other applicants?” Use compelling stories to answer these questions, but be careful that you're not just expanding you resume.
In terms of what skills or competencies the schools are looking for, you can find the answers on their websites. Different school may have different “signature” requirements. You need to choose the most relevant stories from you experiences to convince the school you are the ONE they are looking for.
