LZ是这么理解地：小说家turn away from文学领域 /to write（为了写）浪漫故事。。。。。
这里不是from...to...的平行的用法
turned away from是短语~~~to write是不定式结构表目的~~~

DUK我又来问问题了~ 话说怎么哪个语法帖子都有你的身影啊。。。。A选项为什么不选啊？prep008的解释不能接受啊，in 1909放在人前说是不好，但是不好在哪呢？排除A的主要原因是神马乃。。。求解释~

Turning away is participle


when placed as opening modifier , we call such structure subject-less modifier


so, the subject should placed at first ( that is actually a split)


also,


SL who become the first woman does not make sense


it is not become the first woman and the first writer（that is illogical）


夏娃才是first woman好吗。。。


the first woman to win

语法哥。。。果然nb~ 每次你解释都很清晰~
这里我想问下 subject-less modifier    应该不是错误，只是不够恰当？gmat语法题中很多都是gerund放在开头，然后逻辑主语跟在后面，这种用法应该不是算错而是不够明确主语对吧？像这道题里逻辑主语就是comma后面的LS。 这题的split其实是你说的also后面那个句子意思不对更加有说服力一点~

所以主句的第一个位置要是主语（who turns） 不能是in 1999


这是一个排除点


在98%的情况下（除了个别少数情况下）

这道题高还是有疑问啊。。关于正确选项D：

A novelist who turned away from literary realism to write romantic stories about the peasant life and landscape of northern Sweden, Selma Lagerlöf became in 1909 the first woman and also the first Swedish writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

提主干变成： A novelist, SL became ...
总感觉要说as a novelist, SL became...才说的通啊。。。
那个A novelist放句首是要干嘛的。。。牛人们能给几个例子吗 。。。

A banker, Tom worked in Wall Street..
A football player, L earned a lot of money this year....
这样的用法都是可以接受的么。。。老是想在句首摆AS啊！！！

我认为a novel ....在这里是做的同位语，做 SL的同位语，所以不用as
