啊楼上好快！话说最近很多题也是看了DUKB24同学的解答有所感悟。刚才我也是跑去Manhattangmat上啃了半天确定自己搞明白了才回来，然后发现DUKB24已经接手了呀~

Manhattangmat上Ron的解答是这样的：

"of people consuming" is incorrect; you can't write "of + NOUN + VERBing" if the action of VERBing is the focus of the preposition.

also, the next poster is correct: choice (e) inadvertently states that "the rate of people" is consuming fatty foods. that doesn't make any sense.

我刚才第一次看到这个题的时候也只是语感选择了B，看了楼主的问题之后使劲琢磨E结果给自己也绕进去了。

you cannot write "proof of ... fields ... posing". this kind of construction is just wrong.

this is going to annoy a lot of people, because this sort of construction is bread and butter in spoken language,
BUT:
if the focus of the construction is the ACTION, then you must use the POSSESSIVE form for the noun/pronoun preceding the "-ing" participle. since that's fatally awkward to say in words, i'll provide an example:
everyone laughed at me accidentally walking into the girls' bathroom --> WRONG. sorry. this sentence would actually mean that everyone laughed at me as they were walking into the girls' bathroom.
everyone laughed at my accidentally walking into the girls' bathroom --> CORRECT, because it's the action (my walking into the bathroom, not really me) that they're laughing at.

首先，看一道SC，把A选项完整的读一次找出它的intended meaning和suspicious blunder非常非常的重要，尤其是难题，特别多grammatically correct但是意思改变的选项


1.在法国的人们和在美国的人们吃差不多的食品
2.但是法国挂的人比较少

non-underlined portion 表达了一个转折，这个转折make sense      （就是比较对象不对等）

关于你纠结的E选项

可以有两种理解
1.the rate of （ people consuming in....）
第一这改变了意思，你需要出现在核心主干的名词和谓语变成了修饰成分
第二，consuming作为essential modifier 修饰people（首先这缩小了样本的讨论范围）
A选项的people就是人们，没有指代哪群人；但是E选项这个consuming缩小了讨论人群的范围


2. the rate of people consuming （the rate is consuming fatty foods， that is illogical）
