碰到这个题，第一反应就是former不能去掉，就在ABC里纠结啊，为了显示我对同位语理解比较深，就选了B，结果一对答案是E，我就跪了...如何从这题中看出former不能要呢？时态？那位牛人能解答啊，有机会我请吃饭啊。。。嘿嘿

我的理解哈 后面很明显是过去式 讲述的就是过去发生的事
如果是有FORMER 那么就是过去的过去 他还做了什么什么 就应该对后面有影响
应该用过去完成

similar example:


as a former president, Obama ran the country 。

Nope,when Obama ran the country ( he should have been the current president of US )
how can you appoint someone ( who is not the president)  to manage the county?




as a former president, Obama give a speech in the Boston University
（that is fine；since he can give a speech without being a president at that time）

自开始学习gmat以来，常常会注意到即使是用母语的表达，也会偶尔有一些不甚清楚或是有歧义的地方。还有英语的时态在中国人看来就不是很容易理解，这题属于是语言使用中很隐晦的地方，你举的例子说明这个隐晦到老外都难以察觉，所以属于是比平行结构、主谓一致这些东西更高级的考法。学SC是要学如何用最简洁的方式把比较复杂的内容无误地表达出来，碰到这种高级的考法一定要记住。
