Empirical OM & Behavioral OM is definitely rising. That said, the old-fashioned survey is no longer sustainable in OM. The economics paradigm is quite dominant and a good empirical researcher has to be able to understand or even conduct modeling research. For example, structural estimation requires numerical optimization as well as analytical formulation. Also, doing behavioral experiments in OM requires strong understanding of inventory theory/game theory. Your background is solid and don't be afraid to pursue what really interests you. The field is pretty open to new perspectives now and future, at least I believe so. -- by 会员 xhoward23 (2012/8/18 12:04:24)
