The passage argues that the trend that people nowadays are reading lessliterature than before has negative influences. However, the professor in thelecture does not agree with this point of view by casting doubts on the three evidences.

Firstly, the passage assumes that literature is the only art that providesintellectual stimulation. But the professor points out that there are otherequally creative forms of arts that promote imagination, communication andcooperation, such as natural science.

In the second place, the passage claims that all other entertainmentsgenerally decline the level of culture. Nevertheless, the professor refutes theidea. Because literature is only one part of culture and no one may deny thatwonderful music, imaginative paintings, as not written down art, interpretculture even more directly than literature.

In addition, the professor agrees with the third evidence to the extentthat less audience gives support for literature nowadays. However, she analyzesand explains the real reason for the phenomenon. Generally speaking, audiencesare not to blame for a great number of books published recently are difficultto understand, but modern writers who are not talented as past's.

Nowadays, the Internet has become a part of people’s daily lives for wecan access valuable information conveniently and quickly. Thanks to concurrentinformation from Internet, people could express empathy for others, promoteeducation and enable communication with family than ever could.
First of all, Internetprovides concurrent information that facilitates people’s empathy for others. Anyonewith a computer connected to the Internet acknowledges news all around theworld concurrently. As soon as disasters attack some corner, people findchannels from Internet to offer helps to whomever in need. For example, when ajournalist published a photograph that a mother was giving birth on a tree andexplained that she climbed up the tree to escape the flood, the whole world wasmoved. Soon millions of people donate money, medicines and clothes and helphomeless people to rebuild their hometown.
Inthe second place, Internet has eliminated some barriers that prevent thedevelopment of education. More and more educational constitutions offer onlinecourses to a wider range of students, making location no longer a problem. Afterconnecting to the university websites, students could easily find professors’lecture notes, video and practices as well as take examinations. Furthermore,forums are available for students to publish their questions while bothe-teachers and e-classmates passing by could help with solving problems.
