It's actually not easy for you to attend PhD classes at Duke or UNC since you are not a current student (note education is not free  . It's harder to get RA work. Your background is pretty good. One disadvantage is that you don't have much research related experience. Nowadays I see many successful applicants have substantial research experience. That's why BYU grads are so popular. Actually no need to redo GMAT. But you don't want to limit yourself to Duke and UNC.
