再看上面句子中的问题：Excited about the prospects of harnessing Niagara Falls to produce electric power这一部分中的excited不是动词，而是形容词，句首形容词修饰紧随其后的句子主语NT，这种情况很多见的，比如句首还可以是done或者doing，还有名词结构。
关于这个题目，最好拿句意来辅助做题，如果单纯看语法形式，很难确定。

这个也明白您的意思了，根据excited的意思来判断它是不是V.或者adj.
你看能否这样理解，如果excited是动词的话，应该是“使，激动”的意思，可是如果这样理解，那么就不符合句子里excited的意思，所以它应该是做形容词。所以D选项中，那个and predicted的平行也不应该存在。
不知道这样理解对不对呢？

差不多可以这么理解。其实，有时看到一些词，马上就知道它是不是adj.或者v-ed了，因为GMAT中就是这么用的。
像这道题中句子开头就是Excited about...，第一反应就是excited是adj.，关键这还是一种句式：形容词、分词、名词，主语+谓语。（前面那一些都使用来修饰主语或主谓的。）
