[求选校分析] MSFM @ U of Chicago Singapore Campus v.s. MSOR @ Columbia

前一个录取刚刚来，MSOR是MFE转的，已经开始申请I-20

请大家拍砖，我在纽约待过不少时间，所以没有特别的纽约情节，还是从课程就业上请大家给点意见。

profile: France Master Finance (Paris Dauphine) , 1.5 years sales and trading internship (6 months in Paris, 11 months in New York), bilingual French, CFA Level 3 candidate.

窃以为FM和OR就业方向差不多？个人兴趣在quant trading方面，market making和prop都接触过也都比较感兴趣。我没有特别的美国情节，但是不知能否指教可惜在新加坡可惜在哪里？工作机会多少？就业方向？职业发展？Mobility? 还是别的什么因素？

还请多多发表意见啦！

看你今后打算在哪里工作 新加坡的几个mutual funds也不错 之前来加州Merrill Lynch做过presentation
我看了看profile 基本都是CFA 你拿到执照后留在那里的可能性很高 而且新加坡稅低 不过坏处是鼻屎一样大 而且潮湿闷热
Columbia MSOR据说毕业后基本回国 很少留下来找到工作 虽说有些课是和MFE一起上的 坏处和好处一样明显
回国的话 选Columbia

我对美国工作不太敏感，虽然在纽约法资银行这里也有些network，主要是因为绿卡难拿移民困难，相比较而言新加坡这方面似乎就有些优势。

不知道因为这个preference就会倾向于选择MSFM？可是不是知道这个program在那边名声如何啊，来一位往届学长学姐解释一下就好了。

I chose Columbia in the end...

I do not intend to look for a job in the US either because of long green card waiting issue. Considering the global financial markets that are experiencing quick and brutal changes today, I think it might be wishful to choose a program that is also leads to sectors other than finance. Just for the record, I personally know a couple of OR graduates from Columbia while I was in New York, jobs are certainly accessible for OR students, but job hunting is really a complex issue that needs to take into account previous education background, personalities, languages, previous professional experiences as well as networks. It's really difficult to have a conclusive opinion.

My 2012 application season ends here. After all, my case is a little bit special, my first choice will be finding a job in Paris, the most beautiful city in this world.
