拙见:
1,从RIVAL的意义搭配及时态上首先排除C,E
   从简洁,有效上看,B不如D,D不如A,
2,A中WHICH指代了前面的句子,GMAT不充许
3,A中主谓不一致

gazi bro,

1. 基本 agree with brunhild bro,
2. 好题,which 在GMAT中通常只能就近指代名词(或短语),A无论从逻辑,语法来说都是错误的;
3. 插入语主谓一致,常考,注意小结。

1).  the context uses "could", so B,D,E are all wrong as they change the original mood.
2).  In the past 50 years have the modifying ambiguity, does it refer to trends or refer to the whole sentence?   The way to solve this issue is to put the In the past 50 years to the beginning of the whole sentence
