I'm in mainland. I heard that Stern only accept international applicants who catch R1. Moreover, the interview in China is just prepared for R1 applicants.

Is the rumor true? many thanks!

Thanks, joshuatree and cookiemax. Do you know if it matters for working in a startup or a famous company? Joshuatree, last time we didn't make it to have dinner together in bay area. Maybe we can do this in NYC. How about organizing a CDers' meeting during Thanksgiving?

It definitely doen't matter.

Cool.  I'll be around the City during Thanksgiving.

You can find answers to similar questions on previous posts. Generally it's only true for international applicants who cannot pay an onsite visit to school 'caz Stern normally doesn't offer off-campus interviews in later rounds and hardly admits an applicant without conducting an interview.

Stern admission officer will fly to Beijing each year around late-Feb to mid-March to conduct interview. If you get the invitation, the final admission would be 30% to 50%. No interview, no admission.

joshuatree, thanks. Do you mean that the interview mentoined above is conducted for R1 applicants only? Actually, I cannot afford an on-campus interview due to many uncertainties.
