1. Dorms should be all occupied when you arriave at Tuck, so you'll have to rent off-campus. It should not be difficult if you arrange early. There are always Tuck students on-exchange want to rent their place temporarily.

2. Recuiting season. If you talk about interviews for full-time job, it mostly concentrate in November for second years. Exchange students are same eligible. if you have heard the bidding system at Tuck, you'll know that even if your resume do not get into the close list, you have the chance to bid and interview on-campus.

3. IB and consulting are the areas of heaviest hiring.

在塔克找暑期工

眼看着06年的暑期工招聘面试即将开始，大家都难免紧张起来。圣诞新年假期还没完全结束，就已经陆陆续续有美国同学赶回学校，着手面试前的准备工作了。

找工作永远是读MBA压倒一切的主题。或者说，书读得好不好，衡量的标准就是能不能找到一份理想的工作。教授交给的不仅仅是死的知识，更应该是职场取胜的看家法宝。专业的辅助队伍也是不可或缺的。塔克的职介所（Career Development Office）在这方面做了很多有益的工作。现在，塔克50%-60%的暑期工是通过校园招聘落实的。同时，虽然没有正式的书面文件，据传，塔克是保证100%暑期工的，就是说，即便是最后找不到，只要你还想做，学校都会给安排，比如，周边社区的non-profit的项目，或者做哪个教授的研究课题的助手，等等。

   

不管怎样，consulting and investment banking 还是学校里大多数同学关注的理想去向，而二者必须通过有效的networking以及多轮面试的竞争才能最后得到。这种竞争，不仅是同一学校内部各同学之间的竞争，也是和其他兄弟院校的同学来竞争。怎样才能脱颖而出？各人给出的答案肯定大相径庭。兄弟我现在还没有成功的经验可资分享，就只好留待下篇了。

塔克的校园招聘准备工作从入学就开始了，这些前面的文章有提过。进入到12月份，各个公司根据面试时间的不同，开始分批收简历和cover letter。这个程序都是通过学校内部的网络来实现的，基本上在圣诞假期之前就结束了，每星期一拨。也有些公司只需要在公司的招聘网站上提交申请。根据年景的不同，每年来招聘的公司有多有少。都说今年形势不错，但是没有去年的数据作比，也不好说。更何况，即便公司扩招，也是全球范围选人，不会单独在哪个学校多要人。所以，我感觉，还是要苦练内功，把自己练得棒棒的，就不怕没人要。

公司挑人是从看简历和cover letter开始的。大约的程序是人事部门先过，然后提交给你申请的业务部门再过。据说第一轮screen掉的人是最多的。这样来回几次，确定面试的短名单。凡是来学校招聘的都会提前大约三个星期左右，通知相关的学生。然后在面试日前的至少两个星期通知学校。这时候，你如果看到心仪的学校没给你上close list, 你就可以参加竞标（bid）。每个学生1000分，开始往里扔。当然去年的分数会提交给你做个参考。你要是中标了，就还有机会。如果没中，也只好88啦。现在，各公司总的面试名额里约有一半要通过竞标产生，所以机会大大的有。

总的来看，consulting 的暑期工机会不多，竞争就很激烈。I-banking相对机会多些，full time很多也从暑期工里落实了，所以一开始目标就朝着i-banking的同志会觉得比较省事一点。我呢，既无相关从业背景，年纪又一大把，前景如何，只能拭目以待了。

12月这一轮的应该是by invitation 的。招生的网页上应该有介绍。如果不清楚，我帮你去招办问问。
