问金融硕士和MBA之间的权衡

Hi Frank, thanks for ur typing up there.
Well, I sure would not shift major decisions simply based on others' words alone. Nonetheless, my friend did point out an alternative to achieve a desired career switch.

Back to the basic question, what do I want or love? Definitely not a life replete with endless research papers or mathematical formulars. I quite enjoy the process of coordinating and cooperating among people, based on which I guess the answer would be MBA then for a career rather than MSF/MFE.

Accordingly, next, I probably would look at MBA programs offered by different universities to see if I can and like to fit anyone of them.

Okay dude. Now that you have your thoughts clear and your path set ahead for you, all you need to do is GO. I agree with what you wrote that in your case an MBA might be the more appropriate degree. So it looks like your friend was right after all.

: ), Yeah, Frank, thx a lot for your advice. But now I'm quite taken aback by the financial requrements( around 100m RMB)  needed to complete such a program. No wonder several people I heard about with rather attractive professional backgrounds compromised themselves by shifting goal to applying for master programs which, in a way they put it, were integrated certain technical area with MBA essentials, while the cost was considerably lower ( about 400,000 RMB).
I'm working at present to familiarize myself on the one hand with financial aid procedures provided by desired schools to see if any chance to get significant assistance there, on the other I'm preparing for any alternatives as well, reluctantly.

Yea dude, I understand where you’re coming from.  And the financial requirements are nothing short of insane! J  But remember, if you get into a great program, it is worth it 100X over.  Let me know if there is anything more we can do to help!  Good luck my friend…

金融硕士出来很有可能从analyst或者senior analyst开始，MBA基本都是associate开始。楼主可以根据自己的career考虑

嗯，我想也是，上一份工作就是analyst，当然希望出来能有个突破。但是MBA的学费是个问题。

说实话，金融硕士整体和MBA根本不是一个档次的，金融硕士与MBA的关系也不是所谓specialized v.s. general的关系

如果想做quant/trading/RM，申一个top的MFE还是很有竞争力的，不过最好考GRE

Don't agree.
To my experience, if you have 5+ years work experience, and the MBA is Top 20, then that MBA is better than MFin/MFE
Otherwise, there's no much difference.
If you don't have outstanding work experience, MBA graduates are even more difficult to find a job which will accelarate your career development.

Don't agree.
To my experience, if you have 5+ years work experience, and the MBA is Top 20, then that MBA is better than MFin/MFE
Otherwise, there's no much difference.
If you don't have outstanding work experience, MBA graduates are even more difficult to find a job which will accelarate your career development.

我再用一下我之前写过的楼层观点：MSF把1层的学生推到5层，或者把5层学生推到6层；同排名MBA把5层学生推到10层，但是不会收1层的学生。那么对于有solid W/E的同学，他们本身在5层，不会因为一个只能到6层的电梯放弃一个能到10层的；而在1层的学生，本身也要先到5层才能做MBA的电梯。所以基本我觉得不存在你说的问题，除非有人从成本的角度来看，或者本身够牛无所谓program

如果是MFE，那是另外一回事儿，top的MFE在找工作上和MBA重合很少但是level差不多，所以不同人会有不同选择，比如做RM读一个top MFE就比MBA更对口一些

BZ，看了大家的回复，在此向插个问题：是不是MSF基本都是没有工作经验的人读的啊。。。那如果已有近5年银行及金融公司风险管理经验的，经济学本科~而且想系统学习risk management，同时希望在学历上有所提升的，是否只有MBA一条路可走呢？希望BZ能昂忙解惑~~Thx！

我也很疑惑。我想在金融行业找份工作，但觉得mba没办法让你转行，只有金融硕士容易找工作。但是又觉得msf很难找到工作的，mfe虽然难申请，但是容易找工作。同求问啊。

MBA不能转行，MSF好找工作，我觉得你完全说反了。。。当然MBA转行也不是那么容易，比如之前完全没做过投行、咨询、四大审计，想通过MBA转top IB就不大现实。。。

首先美国就没有多少MSF，而大陆本科生都想直接读Finance，有工作的大多去申MBA了，所以绝大多数MSF里大部分同学都是本科直接过去，而且通常中国人很多，剩下还有一些印度人、华裔外国本、欧洲人之类的。
如果你都有多年W/E并且想学RM，那申一些top的MFE会是非常好的选择。相比之下MBA出来做RM就比较非主流而且学的东西也不那么专
