18. The well-being of a society is enhanced when many of its people question authority.

         The author claims that the well-being of a society is enhanced when many of its people question authority. As far as I am concerned, I partially agree with the author. I concede that the authority are more informed to make some important decisions for the public, however, we cannot leave all the decisions merely to the authority, and besides, we should elicit queries for what they have done for our better lives.

         Admittedly, those authorities, such as the governors, the diplomatic officers and the presidents are more informed to make major policy decisions, since they are graduated from the top universities where they can learn more. Moreover, those authorities are elected by the people with trust and confidence to improve the welfare of the public. Due to this, the authorities may be in possession of better understanding of the issue, meanwhile view the issue from broaden perspectives. Thus, we should be confident in what those authorities did.

         However, even the authorities are to considerable extent dependable, it does not simply indicate that we should never question what they did. Actually, the importance of the latter has surpassed that of the former, and the reasons can be advanced as follows. To begin with, it is human nature that we will make mistakes. The authorities are these kind of people who inevitable to some mistakes. Thus, if we do not question the authorities’ behavior, they may never realize the wrongful ideas or behaviors, which may possibly lead to the serious situation. Secondly, when the public elicit their queries, the authorities will check what they have done, and thus the incorrect policies would be corrected, while the incomplete would be integrated, which is of significant benefits not only to the individuals, but to the whole society.

         Moreover, from the level of the public, the queries elicited by them can be regarded as a mean to keep the society vigorous and energetic. In addition, such behaviors of questioning the authorities can help to create an environment full of democracy, while a society with few queries can be defined as autocracy. As a result, the authorities should listen attentively to the public. For example, more and more boxes called “advice box” are hung on the wall next to the government office, which are created to assembling the advice and the queries from the public.

         While on the other hand, the question should be based on critical and analytical thinking, while any blind and irrational question would bring about nothing but harm as well as uselessness. That is to say, the queries should be advanced in a wholesome way which is conducive to the development of well-being of both the society and the individuals. Some quixotic and extraneous advice, such as some queries related to the private life of the leaders, should be abandoned. Otherwise, the society will be in a irremediable disorder which is harmful.

         Overall, it is incumbent upon the public to question the authority, for the reason that in this way we can stimulate the development of the society as well as the individual well-being. And, what deserves attention is that we should be in possession of a correct attitude and what we question should be proposed in a wholesome way; otherwise, the query will bring the well-being of a society to stagnancy, even retroversion.

字数一般是说的400-500这样的吧，自己能写多少，考前掐几次时间训练下比较好，既保证写完，也保证写得比较完整。

回竹林哥，倒数第二段是30分钟之外加的。我觉得再换个角度思考一下，考场上我会尽量少写的，然后留时间去添加和修改
