as...as 1.
Dirt roads cost twice as much to maintain as paved roads do
= Dirt roads cost some money to do + paved roads cost some money to do.
          2. 第一个as 副词;第二个as 连词; 两个as 中间可以加adj., 也可以加adj.+a/an+名词;
          3. 第二个as 后面可以接:名词性短语,介词短语,句子。很多时候,as..as比较灵活,后面会直接跟名词性短语,介宾短语,而不是句子。
          4. 有时候,第二个as后面接句子时,一般接简单主谓。主语重复时,用it, they 替代,谓语重复时,用do的某种时态,但是谓语提前,表正式。
          5. 除 as...as(what) somebody estimate/expect/think/tell 和 as adj.as n 构成的形容词法外,as..as 是符合大家说的省略原则的
such...as
not so much.......as
the same......as
.........................................
原来一直对 as... as analysts expected
             as....as Paul tells you.

                 as...as (what) analysts expected
                 as...as (what) Paul tells you.
............................
感受as..as的灵活,more than 的严谨
A be more likely than B to do X.
A be more likely to do X than be B.
A be as likely as B to do X.
A be as likely to do X as B.
http://forum.chasedream.com/GMAT_SC/thread-536547-1-1.html
......................................
rather than 与 instead of, GMAC 更愿意用rather than
comparable adj.
in contrast to 这个用法是: in contrast to A,B do somthing.
As in this case
as was the case with......
...................................
X is similar to Y 只X和Y进行比较
X:Y::A:B  X is to Y what A is to B
            X  is to Y as A is to B

1. Understanding cultural norm is at lest as important as graping the pivotal business issues.
2. The economy might not be as weak as (what) some analysts previously thought.
3. In no other historical sighting did Halleys comet cause such a worldwide sensation as in its return of 1910-1911.
4. Even though more money was removed out of stock funds in July than in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as what an industry trade group had previously estimated.

1.Minority graduates are nearly 4 times as likely as other graduates to plan on practicing in the socioeconomically deprvied areas.
2.More than 3 times as many independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8000 a year as those charging over $16000.
3.Ten times as much petroleun exists in such sources as A, B, and C as in conventional resources.
4.To meet the rapidly rising market demand for fish and seafood, suppliers are growing fish twice as fast as they grow naturally, cutting their feed allotment by nearly half and raising them on special diets
5.The dirt roads cost twice as much to main as paved roads do(=cost).
6.The same amout of acreage produces twice as many apples as it did in 1910.
7.four times as many Americans were killed as would later be killed on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day

只有as many , 没有第二个as的:
1. When drive-ins were at the height of their popularity in the late 1950s, some 4000 exist in the United States, but today there are fewer than 1/4 as many.
2. In 1914 a total of ** cars and trucks were produced in the United States, but in 1929 almost twice as many trucks themselves came off the assembly lines.(这个句子是错的,这里的as many trucks 要回指前半句的trucks的数字,这里没有。)

这种as adj as n.
1.to present as little risk as one chance in a million of causing caner
2.to carry as many as 7 people.
3.to arrive from as early as 6 a.m. to as late as 11 a.m.
4.to be effective at temperatures as low as -30 degrees.
5.Using accounts of various ancient writers, scholar have painted a sketchy picture of the activities of an all-female cult that, perhaps as early as the sixth century B.C., worshipped a goddess known in Latin as Bona Dea, “the good goddess.”

such ....as
1.such crops as corns and beans
2.Among the objects found in the excavated temple were small terra-cotta effigies left by supplicants who were either asking the goddness's aid in healing physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help.

the same ....as
1.Galileo was convinced that natural phenomena, as manifestations of the laws of physics, would appear the same to someone on the deck of a ship moving smoothly and uniformly through the water as to a person standing on land.
2.Salt deposits and moisture threaten to destroy the Mohenjo-Daro excavation in Pakistan, the site of an ancient civilization that flourished at the same time as the civilizations in the Nile Delta and the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates.

not so much...as
One of the primary distinctions between our intelligence and that of other primates may lie not so much in any specific skill as in our ability to extend knowledge gained in one context to new and different ones.

as as 省略问题

2.More than 3 times as many independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8000 a year as those charging over $16000.
3.Ten times as much petroleun exists in such sources as A, B, and C as (that)in conventional resources.
7.four times as many Americans were killed as would later be killed on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day

1.Minority graduates are nearly 4 times as likely as other graduates to plan on practicing in the socioeconomically deprvied areas.
