我目前猜想是：因为与were convinced一致，且描述的是过去的错误认知，而不是“某种客观存在自然规律”

因为她colleague持有的观点是错误的，后半句说了BM提出了她的观点，并得到证实。

所以，colleague的观点，并不是客观事实或一般规律
