"问题2, A和B可以互换"
我认为,语法上当然可以互换,但这个句子,从逻辑上讲,互换根本不make sense. 如果你说
Schistosomiasis, a disease caused by a parasitic worm, is prevalent in hot, humid climates, and it has become more widespread as irrigation projects have enlarged the habitat of the freshwater snails that are the parasite's hosts for part of the snails' life cycle.
那么这个句子根本就不make sense!
因为全句关心的是:a disease caused by a parasitic worm
所以就是扣住parasitic worm来推理. 我们只关心worm's life cycle。那么,snails' life cycle,从逻辑上看,就纯粹是out of scope.

小结以下,B有2点有问题。
1. their life cycle  不合逻辑,应该cycles
2. 在这类句子中用for 而不是in

根据我室友的说法,他也很难确定its--parasite's 还是their--snails,所以谨慎判断这个点,避免主观因素加入。

的确worm‘s life cycle更好,不过由于是从句不是主句,用这个点判断可能还是有点危险,毕竟有时候1:20-1:30理解可能会有少许偏差,个人觉得按照稳妥一点的方法区别可能速度更快一点。
谢谢baby姐跟贴哈!

类似的题目
The army cutworm moth is a critical source of fat for as many as a third of Yellowstone National Park's grizzly bears; they overturn rocks to find them, as many as 40,000 per bear in a single day.

(B) bears; overturning rocks to find the insects, up to
(C) bears, overturning rocks to find them, as many as
(D) bears, and they overturn rocks to find them, up to
(E) bears, which overturn rocks to find the insects, as many as

Mar 15那次Thursday w Ron. 当时Ron上课讲这道题,有同学提问,蓝色部分到底指的是rocks还是moths。Ron教我们如下推理:
1. Grammar: modifier placement
2. Logic: 全句关心的是moths,那么# of rocks就是out-of-scope.
见附件

这道题同样如此理解:
1. Grammar: parasite's host对应its life cycle
2. Logic: 如果说snail's life cycle,那纯粹是out-of-scope.

确实如此。。
可能bear的那个例子逻辑比较明显,而且就近修饰insects,所以较好区分。parasite这题好像比较容易忽视这个点。。
谢谢baby姐的精彩讲解啊

In B and E, their (plural) cannot serve to refer to the worm (singular).
Eliminate B and E.

A life cycle is defined as the series of stages through which a living thing passes during the course of its life.
A living thing cannot have more than one life cycle.
Incorrect: a tiger's life cycles
Correct: a tiger's LIFE CYCLE
Thus, in C and D, life cycles (plural) does not convey the intended meaning.
Eliminate C and D.

不是说一个句子里面的指代词都要指代同一个东西,划线处前面的it已经用来指代disease了吧?
