新手感激不尽。。
It is not appropriate for a college or university to require every student to get exchanged for one semester or more. For most students, the exchange experience is the most fun instead of hard work on study in their lives. And from the perspective of parents, sending a child to study abroad will certainly add to economy burden to some extent. What’s more, if a university were about to fix a regulation like that, an accuse of being irresponsible probably would come to it.
An exchange will distract these students from focusing on their study. As is known to all, students feel hard to be self-disciplined if under no supervision from familiar people. By nature the adolescents are young people who can easily get intruiged by fresh things and unknown places. If a college student were allowed to study in a country that he or she had never been to, he or she would most possibly spend time exploring the new enigma. Even though there are a small number of guys who can avoid distractions from the foreign environment, getting adjusted to a brand new situation is still preventing them from being absorbed in research and study in their own major. After all lots of things abroad can be an obstacle, let alone the totally different language. When these things happen, the quality of students’ study is very likely to slump.
Parents could face a sereis of pressure if the decision is made to send every student abroad. Money, by itself, can add to the difficulty of some parents who have meager incomes every month. Indeed, a semester of longer experience in another country will definitely broaden the horizon of students, but who can deny the huge amount of expenses? It is a cruel thing to those poor parents if they cannot afford their kids abroad when everybody else can. When going abroad is only an option, parents can have their children make choices based on their family background and economy condition. However, when it becomes mandatory, parents who are in lower class have an absolute adversity.
Except the bad situations that students and parents face, the school which makes the requirement is also having troubles out of their decision. We all know that when students stay domestically, the university or college is fully responsible for its students’ behavior and nurture. The rules and regulations of scholl somehow plays an effective role in guiding and managing students. However, provided students leave the shool, they will be just like birds out of cages, doing things with no constrains. There’s a possibility that universities just want to take less responsibility handling their studnets so that they send them out. Can anything be worse for a school than its marred reputation? Definitely not.
There are still a lot of more reasons to cast doubt on a rule to ask students to stay aborad for some time, such as the students safety, the political circumstance of the host country, the sharp conflict between two cultures or religions. Apart from that, is the major or field that a student studies in really needs inspirations from abroad. What if the home country has already got the best materials and resources all over the world? From things analyzed above, I put a question mark on the issue that students have to get chances to study in some other countries. |
