manhattan GAMT sentence correction里有个例题看不懂,求教!

原句是这样的: The team has a determination to gain a victory.

这个是concision的例题,我的修改是这样的: The team determines  to win.


答案是这样的:The team is determined to win.
答案特别指出我这种改法不对,因为我的改法changes the meaning of the sentence.


但是我不理解这种改法怎么改变了原意,求指导!!!

你改之后，determin是team的谓语，就是说team自己决定要赢；
曼哈顿改完之后，team是被determined，就是说这个team是被看好会赢的
这两个句子肯定意思不一样，至于原句到底是哪个意思反而让我觉得好像你改的比较对，除非原句里的determination当做“测定”讲，就说这个队被预测会赢；但是determination也有决心的意思，可以理解为这个队有决心赢

be determined to do不是被动...这是种固定搭配,表主动意(e.g., be worried about中的worried也是主动)　　　不过还是谢谢回复呀~

因为我最近才刚开始看曼哈顿，才看了100页，还没有看到这个地方，所以刚才搜了一下，说determined在这里是个形容词，楼主说的固定搭配没有错
我查了下字典
determined
牛津高阶：
1. (to do sth)if you are determined to do sth, you have made a firm decision to do it and you will not let anyone prevent you: I'm determined to succeed.
2. showing a person's determination to do sth: a determined effort to stop smoking
朗文当代：
1. having a strong desire to do something, so that you will not let anyone stop you：determined to do：She was determined to win.
2. showing determination, especially in a difficult situation

determine
牛津高阶：
1.  to discover the facts about sth; to calculate sth exactly
2. to make sth happen in a particular way or be of a particular type
3. to officially decide and/or arrange sth
4.  ~ on sth /to do sthto decide definitely to do sth: [V to inf] They determined to start early. [also V, V (that)]
朗文当代：
1. to find out the facts about something
2. if something determines something else, it directly influences or decides it
3. to officially decide something
4. determine to do sthformal to decide to do something

综上，determine to do是实实在在决定一件事情，不是说咱们决定赢咱们就能赢的，而是咱们只能决定明天早上7点起床这类事情，是决定而非决心
那，be determined to do的解释就很明显了，两大词典都专门列了一条：表现了determination，可以表达出决心的意思
