To develop more accurate population forecasts,demographers have to know a great deal more than now about the social and ecomomic determinants of fertility.
B have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical
D would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical
答案是D 我选了B。此处为什么用WOULD呢？

这里forecast是对未来的预测，would能表达这种倾向

1、to develop 。。。主句应该用将来时态 2、economic与economical的区别前者为经济的后者为节约（就想着咱们学校economic就记住了哈）3、考了点语法比较级more than 后面加主语和助动词+与前面不同的部分其他的就都可以省了
