Educational institutions should actively encourage their students to choose field of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers.

1.任何教育机构，如果负责任，应该给学生提供适当的指导。（原因）

2.然而，教育机构鼓励学生选择某个学科，仅仅因为这学科会帮助学生得到好工作的行为事不明智的，这过于强调了好处，而忽略了以下因素。

A．此做法忽视了学习的个人意图。

B．此做法会阻止其他领域的发展，例如新兴领域和学术领域。

3.总而言之，此做法并不明智。学校应该为学生提供各领域的信息，帮助学生做一个明智的决定。





Admittedly, any educational institution, if responsible, should offer proper guidance of future study and work to all its students. Educational institutions provide not only basic knowledge and useful skills, but also a deep understanding of ethical principles, moral values and so on, which has a great influence on students’ future development and prosperity. Thus, educational institutions should be accountable for the students’ future, giving them proper guidance, particularly when a student has made an irrational decision, which is not conducive to his future development or even harmful to the stable society.



However, it is insane for educational institutions to actively encourage their students to choose a specific field of study, merely because the field will prepare them for lucrative careers. Obviously, it pays more attention to the advantage of the performance, but neglects to take the following factors into consideration.



Firstly, the project proposed by the author has neglect the individual purpose of study. It is true that educational institutions are bridges between students and society, educating capacities to help students own ideal jobs. For some students, who aims to have well-paid jobs in the future, it is appropriate for educational institutions to encourage them to choose a field of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers. However, not all the students have the same purpose for study. For example, a student, who is curious and inquisitive about cosmos all the time, may prefer to choose astronomy as his major field in order to learn more about the mysterious outer space. In this case, it’s really insane to dissuade him from pursuing his dreams merely because the field cannot prepare him for a lucrative job.



Secondly, the project also has been blind to numerous cases in which it may prevent the progress of some fields. Firstly, it is not beneficial to the development of some newly emerging fields. As we know, careers, relating to these emerging fields, will not look lucrative at the beginning. If most of the students choose their field of study as educational institutions suggested, few would devote themselves to these careers and then these careers would culminate in extinction. Second, it is also detrimental to the property of some academic fields. Educational institutions’ behavior may probably give students a wrong impression that success is making money. If it is the case, most of students would rush in lucrative careers but not willing to focus on academic study. As a result, some academic filed, such as mathematics, philosophy and astronomy, may suffer a gradual decline, and which in turn would hinder progress of every practical fields.



To sum up, it is irrational for educational institution to actively encourage them to choose a specific field, merely because the field will prepare them for lucrative jobs, since the project not only neglects the various purpose of study but also is blind to its detrimental influence on the progress of other fields. Educational institutions should provide every student about the information about all the fields, including their promising prospects and existed disadvantages, and then help students to make intelligent decisions about their future direction.
