答案是C，我觉得这题应该要用被动语态，可是请问C中的has never been不是现在完成时么？觉得没有被动啊。。。

为什么要用被动啊？个人感觉框架是：the animosity has never been more pronounced than debates，前面是主系表结构，pronounced（adj），in recent 说明要用现在完成时。

同上，从后句中的never more pronounced 可以确定主语是 The animosity。
从preference的角度讲，主动基本上优于被动。
such在GMAT里面的意思偏向举例（manhattan里面）。
而且意思更加的in general（manhattan IDIOMS LIST）

其实这题考点是verb tense。
从句意里面可以确定不是一般过去而是过去完成。因为是从过去一直持续到现在的。（原句“从未像最近这样这样明显”）
确定了has been了以后就很好确定了
