Key is E.  But I can not figure out why B is not correct. "while (she was )in adolesence" should have no grammar fallacy.

while引导从句，as引导介词短语，后者比前者简洁；另：ETS也说了B这种表达不复合习惯，语法正确不意味着就是合适的表达，打个比方：‘是好人，你’这个表达在中文的语法上也不错，但是更为合适的表达应该是‘你是好人’

Following is my assumption of ETS explanation. Wish NNs guide.

We ususally say: I am a child/We are young. Not say: I am in childhood/We are in youth.

其实，相比于as，while表达的是更为短的一段时间，换言之，while有时虽然可以表达一段时间，那也是指一小段时间，不像as可以表达一长段时间；adolescent显然是一长段时间。

哦，怪不得，我找的例子一般都是当时的情况

比如：While in the class room, he 。。。。。

看来这个区别也要注意。

A中的错误在于being用在了一个名词的前面,太不简洁了,

B中用WHILE显然没有E中的AS简洁

C中用的AT THE TIME OF  HER BEING  错误就很多了.

D中的BEING 也错了.

所以,选E.

今天复习此题，分享一下感受。open to discuss.

我觉得这里的as不是表当……时。而是表身份，譬如 i work in SHARP as a clerk。

(A)            while being an adolescent  当她是一个青年的时候，做了一个动作-->sign，这个动作是瞬时的。while表当……的时候只能修饰延续性的行为，比如 i read the book while walking。while修饰walking，是一段时间。read也是相应的这一段时间发生的事。sign就不行了。她在当青年的12-19这七年中，做了sign这个动作，明显不和逻辑

(B)            while in adolescence  这里while同理。

(C)            at the time of her being adolescent 这里at the time of修饰的是being adolescent，所以瞬时不行。因为being adolescent不能是瞬间动作。注意体会。把at the time of改称while，这样就符合了being adolescent，推翻了OG对该选项的解释。但是依然不能和sign逻辑搭配。错误同上。

(D)            as being in adolescence  一段时间，不能修饰sign这个过去发生的动作。

只有e，as表示的根本不是时间段。

如果还有一个选项when she was an adlecsent  or   when she was in adlesence都还可以接受。因为when是可以修饰时间点的。
