单复数比较明确，排除了A 　B　D，但是C　E之间我个人觉得语感上倾向E啊，remain stationary although the air that forms them is moving rapidly不是ｗｏｒｄｙ么？OG上解释不用被动，李希强说不能省ｒｅｍａｉｎ，各位还有什么明确的解释么，谢谢！

首先动词单复数肯定是要对的。
发现原句中的are用错了，那么原句就是错的。再看看其他选项中有没有同样的错误èB、D错了【看的时候注意are的动词发出者有没有发生变化。有的题目会在中间把动词发出者偷偷替换掉】
剩下C、E。
两个从语法上是没有什么问题的。
再来看意思。这个意思是要揣摩出要表达神马的。
意思是“crests和troughs是静止的，虽然他们的形成是靠快速移动的气体”，要体现出“虽然他们的形成是靠快速移动的气体，但是他们本身是静止的”这样的对比关系。
接下来看C、E哪个表达出了这个意思。
C的前半句话是没有多大问题的，但是although后面着重强调的意思是这个air是快速移动的（我并没有说没有讲‘形成’这个意思），所要被强调的crests和troughs的形成过程被弱化了。
而E的although后面直接接they，很容易让人明白指的就是crests和troughs。另外，although这个从句就是讲crests和troughs的形成靠的是快速移动的气体。

C说  crests and troughs 保持静止 尽管形成它们的空气运动的很快
E说 静止的crests and troughs 尽管它们是被快速运动的空气形成

而原文说的是一个形式 CE说形式的只有C  语义很重要
