MSF求选校，求问各路英雄Cambridge VS MIT...怎么选？

Cambridge is no longer the Cambridge it used to be. Even if u got ad from Finance/F&E of LSE, it still strongly dominates Cam MPhil Finance, not to say MIT finance, a definitely top 5 dept all over the world. For reputation perspective, in either China or HK, MIT overwhelms Cam as well. UK is not the old UK itself as well. Regarding faculty, MIT has R Merton, S Ross in asset pricing and S Myers in Corp Fin, both of whom are cornerstones of the development of modern finance, along with other extremely superb profs like J Cox, A Lo, Jiang Wang, Jun Pan, well, u name it, working on the cutting edge of finance. While Cam has what? A pile of craps and some void fame it accumulated centuries long ago. So if you wanna learn some 'real stuff', not matter academic or  practical, and if money is not the concern ,go for MIT for sure, and throw Cam's offer into the trash! PS: if u understand some research stuff, and know JF,JFE and RFS, MIT is always among the top tie in publication #, while Cam, was, is and most likely will be, always a joke.  Bear in mind, with respect to finance, the UK ranking would always be LBS>Ox=LSE>the rest. http://wpcarey.asu.edu/fin-rankings/rankings/results.cfm

我给乐乐兄的建议:

1.衣领去哪你去哪

2.个人觉得Princeton、MIT、LSE、Oxford、剑桥按这个顺序排，剑桥太学术了，没有那种商业氛围……当然他鄙视国内本也是我鄙视他的一个原因，但主要原因还是太学术，毕竟咱的目的是找个好工作。Sloan比Judge的名气响太多了
3. 我要吐槽为毛牛津肯给你延一个月啊  我的期限快到了，我又要烦他了。。。

另外80%那个数据是12月份Pan Jun带给为我们看的，应该不是3个月的数据，是毕业时的数据。

第一个，她被MIT WL了哎，(-P，话说我真的挺想跟她做同学的，也挺想跟你做同学。
第二个，我跟一位Cambridge的PhD恳谈过，他说剑桥所有taught master都是叫MPhil的，不是课程设置过于学术，他家倾向把所有postgraduate YY成假象的研究人员，无论那个学生是为了找工作抑或想做学术，这是剑桥的底蕴和历史如此。

如果MIT名气VS剑桥名气呢？ 我想知道会大到cover这个学费差额和这样激烈的内部竞争么？
第三个，你选校还没有定下来么？ “MSF求选校...MIT VS oxford said...如何选？" 哈哈

所谓名气其实就是校友圈, 2者都很好, 各有千秋. 香港和新加坡可能剑桥人更多些.


另外关于学校环境的问题, 这个可以很重要，尤其对文艺青年和2B青年来说，剑桥绝对是发骚发春的首选地，MIT就没这福利了。

LZ可以轻松找到full time的大牛当然去便宜的啦，而且还有COT可以申请。
在北京的时候感觉oxbridge在国内的名气也没有‘高端’留美人才传言的那样水。
CITICS IBD一样有本科宾大的在实习。
当然要是让我选肯定就去MIT了...

我一点都没觉得oxbridge水，我的同学谈起oxbridge时跟内地本同学对于清北的向往是一样的。

COT是某个给钱的program。那个每年都给不少钱的，至少本科生给不少。
因为我找不到工作...看看换个地方有没有起色...而且我想去prop trading，美国多很多。
最后虚荣的说MIT还是名气大一点吧。虽然为了名声我已经做了很多错误的选择了。

我也找不到工作，哎。。。你条件挺不错的，感觉你签名的学校到最后至少会来一所的：）
这真的是个围城，一部分Oxbridge的学生觉得始终是伦敦的学校好找工作，后悔当初没有选择伦敦的学校。
而伦敦的学生觉得在伦敦里活得累，向往牛津剑桥节奏相对慢的生活。

其实如果cam和mit 对lz今后的目标规划的影响没有很大差别的话 就选学费低的那个吧 差的还是挺多的 回报率高点～ 加上lz又有浓厚的剑桥情节 如果lz对体验美国文化什么的没什么执念的话 还是去剑桥吧 剑桥的魅力无人能挡～ 想想选哪一个不会让你后悔一辈子呢  在客观条件都抗衡的情况下 只能如此感性的分析了

不过私心还是希望lz去mit 让一个cam的名额出来吧～哈哈

楼主不知道两校提供的平台差距有多大，这是向大家求助的主要原因，排除这个因素，我个人很偏向剑桥的，我从大学入学就YY他家了，说不清的喜欢。
同学，你也申请了剑桥这个项目么？求PM QQ求交流：）

一年的PRGORAM要考虑能不能很快适应下来，一转眼两学期就过去的。。。鄙人适应一般需要花上一段时间，不仅仅指学习，还有生活找工作。。。如果乐乐大牛考虑这些因素在加上回HK的话，VOTE FOR CAMBRIDGE。。。

个人对MIT的评价： 一直是DREAM SCHOOL, 但他家录取一直很没头绪，从本申到MASTER，申本科的时候一位同学被HARVAR全奖却被MIT惨剧；申研见过各种学术帝被秒拒。。。
MIT的SIZE大但口碑依然应该能保持，它的PROGRAM应该会是介于U PENN本和PRINCETON MASTER之间的这么一个定位。。。个人在找实习的经验是，HR对学校认可了，可以帮你过简历关，关键还是后续面试和相关经验。。。

申请过以后，我觉得对于好学校，申请人来论坛求定位是毫无意义的事情（但是可以预见还是陆续有人来问定位寻求一个心理平衡点的），因为是否fit学校的心意太看运气了，很多人想不通为什么A背景这么牛为什么会被拒，从另一个角度想就很好理解了，原因仅仅是决定录不录你的那个（team）人觉得你不FIT他们这个项目，这跟把妹有异曲同工之妙，A高帅富，无可挑剔，但他就是在B女眼里不来电。
