先回答你最后一个问题:OG199中的用法和OG187中的X TIMES用法不一样.

187: FOUR TIMES AS MANY AS....
199: AN AREA 100 TIMES GREATER THAN...

两个都对.但是:

FOUR TIMES AS MANY ... THAN和FOUR TIMES AS MANY MORE... 和 100 TIMES THE AREA 都是错的.

要分清句子结构.

这样还比较好理解。

我的理解:

four times as many Americans were killed as would later be killed on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day  ==> four times as many Americans as would later be killed on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day were killed: 画线部分是主语, were kill 是谓语.
