I just arrived at U of Michigan. Tuition and living expenses here are around below amount:
1. Tuition: $36,680 * 2 = $73,360
2. Rent+Utilities: $400~600 * 20 months = $8,000 ~ $12,000.
You will start your study on Aug 23rd, 2004 and graduate on Apr 30, 2006, which is around 20 months
3. Food: If you eat most of time at home and school cafe and sometimes at restaurants, I would esitmate it's around $10 a day, so $300 a month, and $6000 in 20 months
4. Car is optional here, although a majority will buy one either in 1st year or 2nd year. Also you can rent a car.
5. Clothes and entertainment: up to you.
6. Mobile phone: $60 * 20 months = $1,200
7. Air ticket: how many you want to fly back to China? Usually one-way trip is between $600 ~ $1,000
8. Laptop: $1100 - $1600
9. Normally you can earn $10,000 from your internship.
10. Others
