偶的TWE,请狠批!TWE004

4. TOPIC:It has been said , "Not everything that is learned is contained in books."Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?  (16:15pm-17:19pm August.10, 2004)

When knowledge is mentioned, some people hold that the knowledge from books is more important than that from experience, but other people argue that it’s the experience who plays the more important role. For me , I believe that each side can not give the whole picture respectively. My opinion is that both the books and the experience are the main ways from which people obtain knowledge.

Firstly, as one of the resources of knowledge, books give us the knowledge which is rudimentary or is concluded by others. I have never been to America or France, but I have learned much about them, such as culture, tradition and history from the books I read. I still remember how the picture of Yellow stone state park impressed me as soon as I saw it in the National Geology.

Differing from books , the experience gives us remarkable knowledge through self-practice. Many scientists make theories from experiments, that’s the typical example of getting knowledge from experience. When young children touch the fire by accidence, they will learn one of the characteristic of fire: hotness.

A Chinese proverb explain the relationship of books and experience well: To be a giant, one need read thousands of books and experience thousands of times.  Therefore, we can see that both books and experience is important in acquiring knowledge. If we read books only or practice by ourselves only, we cannot get integral knowledge.

When knowledge is mentioned, some people hold that the knowledge from books is more important than that from experience, but other people argue that it’s the experience who plays the more important role. For me , I believe that each side can not give the whole picture respectively. My opinion is that both the books and the experience are the main ways from which people obtain knowledge.

when knowledge is mentioned, people always differ on whether book learning or experience is important. Some people argue that book learning is important because the most part of one's knowledge comes from the book; others maintain that experience is the first and  foremost because it is the well of wisdom. Both attitudes are based on respective  beliefs.

By reading books, an inderect way of acquiring knowledge,  one can  relatively  obtain the most part of his or her learning easily. Although one has never been to France, he or she can ,only by reading books ,acquire knowledge on economicy culture, custom, and politics of France. In this way, much money is spared. So does much time.

Differing from books , the experience gives us remarkable knowledge through self-practice. Many scientists make theories from experiments, that’s the typical example of getting knowledge from experience. When young children touch the fire by accidence, they will learn one of the characteristic of fire: hotness.

Similarly, one can acquire knowledge from experience. Needless to say, knowdege comes from experience, and experience is the well of human's knowledge. To an individual, the first piece of knowledge comes from the first touch with the real world. Indeed, one not only acquire knowledge from experience but also modify whatever he or she learned from books.Only through one's own experience can knowledge one learned be reinfored and developed . Therefore,by experiencing the world sufficiently, one can dig deeper ,work better and go further in the real world.

A Chinese proverb explain the relationship of books and experience well: To be a giant, one need read thousands of books and experience thousands of times.  Therefore, we can see that both books and experience is important in acquiring knowledge. If we read books only or practice by ourselves only, we cannot get integral knowledge.

Apparently, according to the reason mentioned above, it is obvious that although one can learn some knowledge from books , one can accumulate much more from experience than from books. And as long as  practising  the theory learned from books into the reality, one can shape himself or herself and be challenging.

文章苍白无力,无奈!!

When facing the problem which is more significant, experience or book knowledge. Different people hold different preference due to their distinctive backgrounds and experiences  ,and it seems a little bit hard to conclude any absolute  consent . On the one hand ,some people advocate that experience is more important ,on the another hand ,others ,of course including me , insist that the second choice is preferable .Specifying and considering all the relative factors ,  together with the following paragraphs in details ,we may naturally conclude that book knowledge is required less time to learn ,  more economical to achieve ,and more systematic.

The first plain truth ,as I am presenting here ,is that book knowledge requires less time to learn ,compared with experience. As in the modern society, people tend to be busy all time to face the fierce competition , they need  learn the skills or knowledge in a relatively short time . Consequencely, we are becoming to increasingly willing to learn knowledge from books. Let me take a representative case for example , in a research by a notorious psychologist , there are two groups people who want to learn how to write a certain kind of computer  program .One group is learning these knowledge from several books ,at the same time ,the other group is exploring how to write the program all by themselves. It turns out that the first group of people only use a week to fulfill their task ,on the contrary, the second group use approximate  2 weeks .  Hence ,the most striking  conclusion is manifest that  book knowledge does help people save quite a proportion of time .

In addition , on no account can we ignore the significance of money in nowadays . Experiments from Harvard
                    University
indicate that it is  more expensive to know from one's own experience than to know knowledge simply on the book. As we all know, learning experience we must go to work by ourselves, this indeed requires a lot of money and energy ,which is also money in a particular way. While learning from books is relatively much cheaper, we just have to go to the bookshop to buy one certain book . Therefore, in order to save money, learning knowledge from books is a spectacular (excellent) idea. For instance, my friend Tom  planted 2000 apple trees last year. What surprised me most was that  he did not read any books on that field , he simply planted the trees according to his own experiences.  Finally, he lost quiet a  wide assortment of money on that. We should never make the same mistake once more. So it is book knowledge that will help us save money and even earn a lot of money.

Least but not last, book knowledge is absolutely more systematic ,which means we can learn the whole aspects of certain  problem.  Personal experience is often only related to one certain part of the problems ,which may be especially dangerous in certain conditions.

Admittedly  ,learning from experience does have certain advantages, such as more practical, easier to understand. However , the advantages of learning from book knowledge carry more weight than those of learning from experience. Therefore, I reinforce my standpoint  to choose to learn from book knowledge as my final choice.
