如果这题的确是chemicals 的话， 我还是认为but 是对的。

终于找到一些例子了。 以下引自Longman

我知道but可以做类似and的连词，但是意思绝对是不一样的。并想知道如果选C，怎么改？

看完T，又学了不少，我也掺和一下。。。。。我知道法律上有句和include以及but相关的句子：

Our service include but are not limited t........

hehe, 扯远了，brynoy的意思我们都知道，but作为介词可以表示除了。。。之外的意思。不过有2点希望注意：

1。but表示除此之外的意思时，通常都是在主句是否定句时（哦，不是否定句，使表示否定意思的句子，比如nothing），至少在ETS里是这么应用的。。。。。

2。如果也可以用在肯定句里，那么but是作为介词使用的，这样介词短语就应该做副词使用（修饰主句或动词），作为主局的一部分，那么题目中but前面的逗号（通常是并列，插入语，独立主格，同位语等的提示）就变得多余了。这该如何解释呢？

所以，我认为brynoy确实多虑了的说。。。。。。

只是这个chemicals 实在不对呀。 有人查到它除了表示化学物质以前的其他意思吗？

The use of "but" here is definitely wrong.  IMO, "but" should be corrected as "but not".

"chemicals" is noun, so grammartically it's O.K. to use "chemicals" as the object of "include".

Same as your guys, I'm not very used to TOEFL.  But I find that unlike GMAT, TOEFL grammar test is mainly concerned of the mechanics of English grammar, not necessarily of the subtleties.
