c，d有争议，我选d，高度怀疑c的侧重点不对，但d也有点点疑问，那个also会不会有问题，因为假如破折号里面的内容可以不理的话，变成：structure also enables，但also一般用在重复的情况，但这里没有重复，一开始就用also我不知道是否可以，请给意见

首先给个语法书例子：The sight of Barney Clark——alive and conscious after trading his diseased heart for a metal-and-plastic pump——convinced the press, the public and many doctors that the future had arrived.

发生在巴尼·克拉克身上的奇迹--在用金属与塑料制造的泵替换下他原来那颗不健康的心脏之后,他依然活着,而且神志清醒--令新闻界、公众和众多医生都深信不疑未来已经到来。

句中两个破折号中间的内容是个插入语,起补充说明的作用,用来解释the sight of Barney Clark。

1　先不讨论破折号是否可省，先根据两个破折号作用，the same construction that makes some butterflies shimmer via the phenomenon of iridescence是补充说明layered construction of a butterfly’s wings

2　also enables的出现肯定是要同前面的动词呼应，可看出是同makes呼应，而makes主语是the same construction，还是根据also的呼应原则，also enables主语也应是layered construction of a butterfly’s wings，

综合以上1 2点，可知句义及逻辑重点都放在了主语the ultrathin的同位语layered construction of a butterfly’s wings，而真正的主语the ultrathin反而相对有点“失重”了，让人觉着是可以省略不要的！而主语不应该这样被对待的！所以错。

C就正好相反，所以对

I think D is correct.

C. has multiple grammar errors.

ignor the part between the commas ,  ie. ' , wings is the same as the one that makes some butterflies shimmer via the phenomenon of iridescence,' the sentence becomes:

Scientists have recently discovered that the ultrathin enabling the insect to control ...

Now you see, in the 'that-clause', there is no verb.

C: Scientists have discovered that the construction is the same as the ... via the phenomenon of iridescence, enabling xxx D: Scientists have discovered that the construction also enables xxx "also" is ok here

If C, then the biggest issue is who "enabling xxx"? Scientists? construction? or phenomenon?

根据句意 是两个结构相类似 不是一样的

3 enabling 在句末 修饰主语 没有问题

D的错误 1。 the same that 错 2 also 错 also 要用于前面提了一个 后面讲到 XX也这样 在D中并没有前面提到什么

d句子的意思是：科学家最近发现：某种蝴蝶翅膀轻薄多层的结构－－同样的结构使到其他的某些蝴蝶闪光－－还可以使昆虫控制要吸收或散射多少阳光。 （重点是发现结构一样，而且结构可以控制阳光量，这样的陈述很合理）

c句子的意思是：科学家最近发现： 某种蝴蝶翅膀轻薄多层的结构同那些使到其它某些蝴蝶闪光的结构是一样的，（这结构）使到昆虫可以控制吸收或散射多少阳光。（重点只是发现结构一样，后面那句只是解释以前发现的这种结构的普遍用途，这陈述不合理，重点不对）

所以我认为d才对，而且发现原来破折号里说的功能就是这种结构的功能， 那后面的also就有前提了，即这种结构不但有破折号里的功能，also有xxxx的功能。

通常the same常与to或as连用,其实the same也可与that连用,但that后面应接从句,如定语从句

例句：This is the same pen that I lost last week.这就是我上周丢失的那枝钢笔。the same表示"同一个,就是那个"（丢了的）

讨论的JJ中the same construction that makes －－－，也是定语从句，语法上还是没错的

楼主gerry3x，好象打字打错了，是D吧！

经过你的提醒，我结合enabling做伴随状语的作用与功能，发现C中，整个句子内容－－即一个结构与能实现一种功能的结构相同－－并不能导致enable the insect来实现另一种功能！

而应该从逻辑意思上来说，同样的结构能够实现两种不同的功能，即既能makes 一种功能，also enables另一种功能！

我找一下有关语法书，还没有提及能从句子语法结构上，将两破折号完全丢弃不用（有朋友找到的请告之），所以also make 与make呼应是合理的

还在想GMAT考的重点是能力，而不是语法。我是认为本题C　D单从语法角度上来说，都行的！即也包括C的enabling的主语指代问题
