这样的情况多发生在另一个名词是抽象名词 如culture, attempt 时

如果名词是具体名词 在一般情况下要求单复数对应

但好像attempt不是抽象名词把，“抽象名词是不可数的”成立则“可数名词不是抽象名词”，在Longman Dictionary中对attempt的解释是：

[countable]
an act of trying to do something, especially something difficult

应该说：这里的attempt表示的是一种整体的努力情况，并不表示具体某次的attempt.
