真厉害，能说说什么职位么。话说PIMCO几年UCLA的MFE都招了5个嘛。

首先我很喜欢CBS，dream school，没有贬低的意思。恭喜几位申请成功的牛人，我也是只是客观的说说我周围的事实，不对的话，见谅。


首先，我们说HF，这种地方，MBA需求量本身就不那么大，要么就是PHD, MFE上来就矿，或者CS背景，码工，还有大牛本科毕业的直接trader了。其次IM，IM确实很待见MBA，特别是portfolio management组，但是比例不说明问题，我刚才说了，其实主要大牛买方，同样是10%，我真的不觉得CBS和HBS能进一个档次的IM。比如PIMCO, Blackrock这个档次的portfolio management这个方面的职位最近招聘，好像真的杀到最后的都是H/S/W的，主要是组里最近刚招了两个人，他们都刚面完这些大买方，杀到最后一轮都是败给了HBS，wharton的。至于Capital group嘛，周围的Anderson都有人进嘛，不是那么苛刻啦。

各人觉得看人了，主要是你想干什么，对于一些中国人来说，能在纽约找份投行，咨询工作留下干几年，混身份，wharton对于CBS没有优势，CBS还占地利。但是你要想拼进大买方的好职位，比如HF,PE/VC的好职位的话，H/S/W的作为top tier绝对优势就体现出来了，特别现在这个market, ，CBS会让你去打打酱油的，但到了最后一面就是这三所学校，当然MIT也不错了，特别在PE业界。其实都一样啊， 就好象国内大投行到了最后一轮就剩北清复交一样的。

我不这么认为。看看最近几年Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Chicago和CBS的就业报告就知道：后两家传统的金融名校在HF, IM等方面的录取情况不比前三家差，如果不是更好的话。

以就业较困难的2010年为例，CBS有10.9%的毕业生进入HF, MF等IM, Booth为9.8%，而HBS的同样数字为9%。在2010年在校生的暑期实习工作中，CBS有11.6%的人进入HF等IM, Booth为10.3%，而HBS为12%。

结论：HBS在PE/VC方面确实具有比较显著的优势（最近两年进入这两个行业的比例为10%以上，CBS和Booth只有约5%），但是在二级市场IM方面没有明显差别。

Stanford更不用说了，大部分进入金融界的学生都是去PE/VC的，不会有多少人去HF等IM.

i am from Columbia and this year 4 CBS guys got PIMCO full-time (so far). This is accurate info from the PIMCO CBS recruitment talk this year.And among Chinese students who already secured jobs, two of the guys with the highest comp are both going to hedge funds.

honestly i don't remember. I am a banking guy and just went there to 打酱油... i personally know one of the four guys, who was an ex-DB trader going to portfolio management.

Frankly I am surprised UCLA MFE sends so many people to PIMCO. My personally know more than a dozen people from several much better ranked MFE programs and they struggle to find even less prestigious jobs.

Not sure what roles the UCLA guys are hired into at PIMCO. It could be that MFE is indeed a better program for certain roles at top buyside shops? Or maybe there are really some superstars in MFE programs?  I haven't done the homework so I would not comment here. Anyway MFE vs MBA is not even an apple-to-apple comparison to start off with.

I don't intend to hijack the thread so I will stop replying.

这个嘛，我很想知道下这个trader的本科是啥大牛校，哈哈。好比认识一个MIT的物理本科, UCB的MFE，她的本科给她带来的光环超过了UCB的MFE。她也一样杀到了大买方的最后一轮。她去念个MFE，不过就是想证明有个金融的教育背景而已嘛，UCB离家近就去了嘛。话说，对于一个咱们这样大陆背景的老中，木有这种资本嘛。
