不知道大家发现这到题的一个语法错误没有?

distinguish的用法是distinguish...from...或者distinguish between...and...

没有distinguish...and...的用法

奇怪啊? sb. know y?

我看了很久觉得还是选D

(1)看原句的意思as a result,意思是说结果是导致怎样， 由于hamper the ability 导致了not making sense of speech,所以B在这方面就不如D

(2)and 作为连词，连接的两个动作可以是先后发生的，

不知道理解得对不对，希望NN指点

为什么要加as a result? 这个插入语加得奇怪，都用了so...that句型，为什么还要用as a result呢？？

该死的ETS，教我们不许重复，自己却成天写这种罗嗦的句子！！

不过B的确是最好的，丢掉as a result就通了

我选了D，但是认为B正确，虽然那个插入语有些恶心。

D主要有几个错误results和谁并列？和hampers并列是符合语法的，但是不管如何就是说conversational pace result in not making sense of speech.虽然没有找到result in doing， 但是longman中有：

result in something phrasal verb
to make something happen
ￚsynonym causean accident that resulted in the death of two passengers

很显然make sense的动作发起者是children，不是conversational pace。 不过这个点也只是我的疑问，希望NN们给于confirm。

我原来也认为是D。觉得是hampers the ability和results平行，作为先后发生的两个独立的动作。但是问了美国朋友之后，发觉native speaker的解释思路和LES的是一样的。大家是否可以参考一下。

To me - B - would be correct.

I don't know the technical terms but I believe that (to distinguish discrete sounds and words) and (to make sense of speech) is a compound appositive(the most common kind of appositive consists of a noun or nouns that follow and further identify another noun or nouns) that describes outcomes of conversational pace. "The result is" modifies "to make sense of speech".

The problem with D is that "results in not making" does not modify sense of speech as it should. I have no clue what it is doing and clearly it is not a part of the compound appositive because again, it should be the modifier.

I think the key is that "the result is" should be a modifier.

有意思的后面还有两句感慨，不知大家看了是否会笑出声来。

I hope I didn't confuse you too much with my answer. I know it's not using all of the technical words a real English teacher would use.That's what I really hate - these stupid tests that try to trip a person up on little things. WHEN you get to the U.S. you will find out that we speak terrible English and people will never speak in such complicated sentences -except lawyers. And lawyers use complicated words, I think, to scare people.
