it hampers ... , and results in ....

如果是 and as a result, to make sense of speech...

B: 如果去掉插入语: as a result, 变成: it hampers the ability of some children todistinguish discrete sounds and words and (the ability) to make sense of speech.

Diatoms of this
species, sometimes called
“commuter” diatoms, remain

burrowed
in the sand during high tide, and emerge
on the sand surface

during the
daytime low tide.

B and as a result, to make sense of speech

D and results in not making sence of speech

B是指(hampers the ability of some children) to make sense of speech, D是指not make sense of speech. 都是否定make sense of speech.

1.并不是the conversational pace直接使得not make sense of speech,而是通过hampers ... sounds and words.

2.因为将results 和 hampers并列,使得conversational pace导致not make sense of speech(发生在所有人身上?

我举着应该是D,除了各位说的之外,关键一点在于ability, 如果说 to distinguish ... and to make并列的话, 前面应该为abilities.

it hampers the ability of some children to distinguish discrete sounds and words and, the result is, to make sense of speech.

GWD-9-Q15:

Dressed as a man and using the name Robert Shurtleff, Deborah Sampson, the first woman to draw a soldier’s pension, joined the Continental Army in 1782 at the age of 22, was injured three times, and was discharged in 1783 because she had become too ill to serve.

A. 22, was injured three times, and was discharged in 1783 because she had become

B. 22, was injured three times, while being discharged in 1783 because she had become

C. 22, and was injured three times, and discharged in 1783, being

D. 22, injured three times, and was discharged in 1783 because she was

E. 22, having been injured three times and discharged in 1783, being [A]*

A.       that it hampers the ability of some children to distinguish discrete sounds and words, and results in not making
