至于E，一个the用来定后面整个结构，或者说后面的每个名词成分共享这个the，是很常见的结构。

虽然我不认为B的答案很正确，但是E是一定不对的。

大家看: ...or the formalities, expenses, and impersonality of hotel, 很明显这个结构不平行。

我查了一下without的用法总结如下：

without sth,without doing;中间不能加入其他的修饰成分。without用于简单的结构，目的是为了表达的简洁。without还表示一种强烈的语气。语气的强烈会影响句子的意思，这在ETS中也会经常出现，主要表现在only,significantly,may等语气词上。

B中的none of, nor ...是一种常见的结构。关于B中的问题none of the restrictions of passenger trains, railroad timetables,这个逗号是个疑问，为什么用逗号而不用and连接。

关于A and B of C的修饰歧义问题。我觉得stoneren所说的应该从首先逻辑意思上来判断A,B.C是否会造撑歧义。

XDF的137是一个很好的例子：

Problems in the management of water and other resources...

而这样表达problems of water and other resource management就会引起歧义。

我现在觉得B也有问题；参看OG78：

The root systems of most flowering perennials either become too crowded, which results in loss in vigor, and spread too far outward, producing a bare center.

(A)  which results in loss in vigor, and spread

(B)   resulting in loss in vigor, or spreading

(C)  with the result of loss of vigor, or spreading

(D)  resulting in loss of vigor, or spread

(E)   with a resulting loss of vigor, and spread

Choice C is flawed by the nonparallel verb spreading and the wordy phrase that begins with the result of.

这句子只要看出none of是要在3个以上中间的，然后后面就是一个3个东西的并列。由于这是一个否定句（none），所以最后的连接词用nor或者or。不用without的原因我觉得是without带有强烈的语气（XDF老师讲的，应该有点依据吧）。事实上，E选项关键没有表达出3个并列的关系。E也是不错的选项，但是它没有表达出原句none of的意思吧。

请问这题是真题吗？答案B是不是ETS的答案？

我记得有这么一个例子，the A, the B, and the C 可以简写成 the A,B,and C。。

这样说应该是E最好了
