still是adv，修饰动词
不比较动词，就不存在是--仍是的关系。因此OG说要用从句比较。

A 仍是这一代人的目标，就如同A是上一代人的目标 -----------logical right
A 仍是这一代人的目标，就好象上一代人的目标 ----------awkward了

我认为，最简单的说
that代指不同的事物
it代指相同的事物
这个goal是相同的事物，
比如
Mammal's lungs are usually larger than that of bird.
没问题，因为这两种肺是不一样的，哺乳动物肺和鸟肺
再比如：
This exam is as hard for as it is for Tom.
考试是一样的，所以不能说as that is for Tom.

去掉逗号也不行吧，这样的话like对比的对象就不是主句主语，而是宾语了，如此that是指代goal这一个单词，就不能突出几代人的目标同样都是"owing and living......its own land"
