错误选项C 的解释，(撇开其他错误不管) , 说这里double要改成doubling, 因为同位语修饰词(double)要紧跟其修饰内容，在此句子中逗号前不是一个figure， 所以不能用double这个结构。


跟另外一个句子作比较

正确句子 the loan company announced it would soon lend money to borrowers with proven records of not paying back their loans on time, a group collectively know as the subprime lending market.

其中a group是同位语修饰前面的borrows with proven records, 这个同位语没有紧跟阿！！！这两题不是互相矛盾吗？？？！！！

我不确定我的解释是否正确，仅看能否帮助LZ多提供一点思路:In general, noun modifiers touch their nouns, however , there are few exception to the Touch Rule: A mission-critical modifier falls between. This modifier is often an "of " that defines the noun. The less important modifier referts to the noun plus the first modifier. (from manhattan)
我觉得你举的这句:the loan company announced it would soon lend money to borrowers with proven records of not paying back their loans on time, a group collectively know as the subprime lending market.就比较符合这种情况。原则上来说是要touch,但是有些情况that也好，同位语也好，中间也允许有一些critical modifier存在，比如of引导的.我想语法很多规则不能像数学那样有非常明确的情况。LZ根据语境判断一下就好，大的TOUCH原则其实是不违背的。

不一样的结构，double是动词，要用ing形式作伴随/结果状语。
a group是名词，和后面的修饰成分一起做独立主格。

因为不是the number double,而是the increase double, 所以double不能做the number 的同位语，而应该成为一个动词ing，作状语
