答案是B，可是为什么A不对？
问题一：“than”是考察平行并列结构，但是B选项中的后边是will将来时，而前边是现在时“threaten”
问题二：“ over the next fifty years”为什么写在than前边比写在than后边好

AB的主要区别是比较成分后面的部分是否补出了在这里是情态动词的will
举一个aeon版主的例子
I eat apple faster than you。含义为我吃苹果比吃你快（歧义）
I eat apple faster than you do。含义为我吃苹果比你（吃苹果）快

在这里AB的区别同该例子一样，A中不补出will就会有rare gases warm atomsphere比warm carbon更快的歧义

关于时间状语的位置，鄙人觉得写在哪里都差不多……请指正
