A确实有歧义，应该说是对应不准确。
我找了一下LZM的书，里面是这样解释的。当谓语内容一致比较两个主语的时候，在than之后尽量补出谓语动词

第一个主语是比较的事物，所以than后面应该要加的是数字的比较所以it was
第二个主语是the proportion，直接比较就好
