各位，以下是PREP08，Q181知识点补充说明中的一些话：

不过如果前面的成分比较短，不会引起歧义，这个同位语还是可以跳跃修饰的，比如这个例子：
According to surveys by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, about 20 percent of young adults used cocaine in 1979, doubling those reported in the 1977 survey.
(A) doubling those reported in the 1977 survey
(B) to double the number the 1977 survey reported
(C) twice those the 1977 survey reported
(D) twice as much as those reported in the 1977 survey
(E) twice the number reported in the 1977 survey
OA：E。其中twice跳跃used cocaine修饰20 percent of young adults.


今早总结twice和double时，查到twice只有两种词性：副词或者predeterminer.
那这道题里，我不认为twice可以做同位语修饰"20 percent of young adults"吧？twice不是名词的属性啊。。

此外，我觉得number也不可能是20 percent of yong adults的同位语，理由如下：
1. 正常情况下，A is twice the number of B. 这里twice是the number的determiner，即A是B的数量的2倍，the number是B的“数量”。
2. 由此类推，此题about 20 percent of young adults used cocaine in 1979, twice the number reported in the 1977 survey 横线部分the number应该是“1997年survey的数量”，twice来修饰这个数量，表明“1979的数量是1977的数量的两倍”

可如果是这样的话，twice the numer reported in the 1977 survey到底在做什么成分啊？~

A。 those指代adults， 数量double 人，所以不对
B. to double直接排了
C。 twice those，同A的错误结构，一边是数量，一边是人，不平行
D.  同AC一样的错误形式
E.  twice THE NUMBER, 两边都是数量，所以我选了E

恩。这也是我的想法~
我主要纠结的是：E选项，其对应的就是"twice+ n."这种使用方式，而在这种使用方式里头twice做的是一个“predeterminer”，也就是修饰词的成分。
举个例子说，The amount of carbon dioxide emmited by cars is twice (the amount) emmited by ships.
这个句子中，主语The amount of carbon dioxide emmited by cars    谓语is   宾语(the amount) emmited by ships
而那个twice，是修饰宾语，表示“2倍”的意思。

可是在我一开始给的那道题了，首先，它没有出现这个能连接比较对象的宾语。。
第二，那个划线部分的number，明显应该是“被比较对象”，所以我不赞同笔记里说“number作为20 percent的同位语”

可是，然后我就不知道它在做什么了。。。

哪有说不能回答的~嘿~
我觉得还是不可以啊，尽管我这么想过...你看twice是修饰语 reported in the 1977 survey也是修饰语，那
twice the number reported in the 1977 survey中心词就是number，还是“1977年report的number”
它不可能成为那个about 20 percent...的同位语啊……

= = 相当恐怖啊...我总一放纵从11点半歇到1点然后才睡。。。

一道manhattan的题目
According to the National Science Foundation, in 2003 there were 198,113 female science and engineering graduate students, almost 42% of the graduate students in those fields, twice as much as 1981.
A. twice as much as 1981
B. twice as many as 1981
C. double the figure for 1981
D. double what it was in 1981
E.  a number double that of 1981’s
答案C。 double在这里的用法是作为predeterminer，就和 twice the figure for 1981一样意思。
但是总觉得有点奇怪，会不会用doubling更好？
而且中间隔了一大段almost 42% of the graduate students in those fields 那这个double还可以这样跳跃修饰吗 也跳得太远了吧....
