求教 while不能表示转折了吗？

答案是D 疑问在E选项中的while，答案解释排除E的原因是while表示同时，两个动作同时发生。而被观察到和宣布发现不可能同时发生所以错。但如果此处while表示转折，意为“尽管1967年被发现了，但直到1968年才被宣布”不是很通顺吗？请高人指出我理解上的fallacy！

PS 本人未能领悟此题的考点 初读原句觉得没错 看了D之后发现加上observed、discovery确实表意更清楚而已。。 请NN指导此题考点！

就如你所说，while可以表转正，问题就是它也可以表示同时发生，也就有歧义了

OG12里一道对不用while的解释：since it might indicate simultaneity rather than contrast，这里也适用

我觉得 此处的关键在于根据句意announce的主语不应该是pulsar,而是pulsar被发现这件事。

经过实战验证过，通常While可以表示转折，但是同时也有表示两件事同时发生的意思。
后一点经常被忽略。

曼哈顿语法书上面的解释是，while一般在gmat考试中表示转折，但是 while doing可以看做是时间状语，表示同时发生，具有非对比的含义，但是并不表示转折
