答案是A，我不明白为什么A中的it 指的是题中的 a language，我觉得之前有说 between a language and the sub-anguages，所以应该是指这两个啊，为什么只指a language.

附上我的中文：没有人确切的知道到底有多少语言在这个世界上，部分原因是在区分一种语言和方言之间的难度，但有尽力去数多少种语言的人发现有大约5000种。

支持may， 通过between ...and更能清晰的感觉到并列的层次，因此it的指代也就一目了然了。

the sub-languages or dialects是一个整体，within it表示对这个整体的修饰，表明“整体” with in language.
求教这么理解是否可行？
