基本确定be able to是可以修饰人的，can和be able to 的区别不在于主语是物还是人，而是主语是不是“主动发出动作者”，例如the hen is able to lay eggs的表达是正确的。

can的适用范围更广一些，意思仅表达做某种事情的可能性，而be able to表达的是主语有发出动作的能力，两者意思有细微差别，遇到题一般还是要参考其他考点进行选择，不算绝对性错误。
