发篇小作文,会不会有人给指点指点呢? 写完自己都觉得有点GP不通,而且还大大超时。眼泪哗哗滴~~ -------------------------------------------------------------- "The most effective way for a businessperson to maximize profits over a long period of time is to follow thehighest standards of ethics." Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your ownexperience, observations, or reading. -------------------------------------------------------------- The statement presented above depicts that among all ways for a businessperson to maximize profits over a period of long time, to follow the highest standards of ethics might be the most effective way. In my opinion, it depends. Different people in different environment make their own conclusions. It’s hard to pose a universal standard of that.
First of all, people have different concept of “a long period of time”. As to a newly found studio or company, five to ten years may be considered long enough. Nevertheless, a decade may not deserve be mentioned over a long history of an old traditional corporation such as Citigroup. Likewise, normally we human beings take a lifetime to be a long period, well, to the entire progress of civilization and industrialization, a lifetime long is too short to remember. Because of that, it cast doubt on the statement presented above.
Secondly, profit and ethics do not always coincide harmoniously. To be a businessperson, pursuing profit is his nature.During the development period of industrialization, history told us that story time and time again. A lot of corporations have their disgraceful history when growing. They went after profit greedily and did their best to take advantageof legal loopholes. Also, profit is the original motivation to creativity and productivity. However, along with modernization, ethics are playing more and more important role not only within the corporation, but in the whole society, especially when recently the world is becoming an intensely integrated global village. A bunch of laws and acts come up to regulate corporations’ behavior to protect nature environment, to build relatively fair competitive market as well.
Here is a painful example a couple of months ago. In the earthquake hit Japan at 3/11, TEPCO suffered an extremely grievous incident of radioactive fuel leaking of their nuclear power station, which endangered almost all the world, not to mention the residents within 30 kilometers. If ethics go beyond profit, nuclear power shouldn’t have been applied to power. The fact is, as we all see, relatively low cost urged TEPCO to build those stations. Not only TEPCO in Japan, nuclear power stations are popular in almost every country capable of nuclear technology. To give a little relief if not none, people realize that potential danger and united to raise objections. Two months passed can we look back impersonally. For forty years,TEPCO put aside ethics, adapt nuclear power to gain tremendously profit, if not due to earthquake and tsunami, it might have been kept doing that even now. Whereas, the share price of TEPCO plunged straight downward and ripped almost all of its profit soon after the disaster. That is exactly what ethics ignorance punishes us.
Ever since before, profit leads the way in development, there is no way business person overweigh ethics over profit at the very beginning. Soon or later various problems involved in ethics emerge, only be accompanied with regulations that ethics been paid attention to. To summarize, there is always long way forward before ethics comes into sincere consideration. |
