答案选E，但是我觉得选D.我的理解是：这句话的谓语name,句子主干是named sb sth, assign to do这个成分应该是修饰expert的所以应该选D。如果选E，it指代谁呢，it assign to 在句子里是什么成分呢？

应该是没有assign for doing
以前老帖里很多人说有assign for的搭配，不知道是在哪里看的

这道题答案都不顺眼，顺便唾弃一下GWD

还是分析下涉及的点。。
首先，chairperson of...of...+修饰成分，修饰的肯定是chairperson（知识点：manhattan touching rule exception）
第二，关系代词做宾语时可以省略
第三，assign的搭配，见上

A：they没有指代(不可能指代介宾结构里的experts)

B：name sb sth to be assigned doing...肯定错的，name的主语和be assigned的主语都不一样

C：时态有问题（觉得不是being不简洁的原因）

D：没这个搭配

E：结构：The W named R chairperson it assigned to do...
                it assigned是宾语从句修饰chairperson, it指代white house
                The W named R chairperson (that) it assigned to do...

有点不明白  that不是不能指代人么 为什么这里可以指代chairperson

白宫将Dr RuthR. Faden任命为专家组的主持人吧？
name的双宾语结构

可是这样一来搞不懂assign了 做插入语也说不通啊？
