代词指代的问题

它的意思应该是说人们洗衣服的步骤分为3步，第一步就是by placing the <dirty laundry >in a strong clothbag,那么第二步也应该是这个对<dirty laundry >做动作（相比对从clothes做动作），逻辑会清晰点。

其实你也可以这样看，未划线部分有their clothes, 那their 指代肯定是people
而B D them 肯定不能指代people 即使要指代也是指代clothes--------->像这种情况一般而言是不太好的。那我们转而用it去指代dirty laundry就可以避免因为them带来的指代不清的情况.

thanks, 你说的我都知道， 我就是想知道  B选项中的那句话是什么意思， 我以前从来没有听过过类似的规则， 所以比较好奇，
如果有谁知道出处， 或者能详细讲讲这个知识点， 那就太好了。

by后面的都是来描述洗衣服的步骤.  将by后面的一堆视为一个整体,这样指代的话最好第二个分句的指代能通过第一个分句得出指代对象(在整体之内寻找出指代对象)  不要跨越到<by这一个整体之外>去找

anyway, 我个人觉得这个结论不是特别具有普遍实用性。
