F500 CEOS sometimes earn more than investment banking CEOS because F500 company sometimes earn more (in both profit and revenue terms) than investment banks.
Country Manager should earn less than IB MD's due to:
- country manager don't do strategy shaping - don't "bring in" or "increase" future cash flows. They are responsible to report and manage the operational process. - IB MD do manage their own group of business, managing their own client and bring in cash flows in a more direct manner. Doing this, they set their own strategy and basis points.
- country manager has not experienced IB Hours. Their hours are much more relaxed - 9 to 5 I guess? - MD, definitely more than 9 to 5.
- country managers are the ones that didn't make it to consulting or IB. - MD are the ones that did, and survived.
- nobody care about your "personal influence". $$$ is what matters.
So MD should definitely have higher total pay than a country manager, which is also the case.
