OG12-50题对于答案D的解释

我认为这道题的时态应该用句意判断，而且好像prep笔记上说出现earlier this year 就用过去完成时。。。。。。不过我做这题时是我认为confidence that 的表达比in要有整体感

诸位鸡友们，我有个问题。
是不是用过去完成时的话，同句中一定要出现过去时？还是说不出现也是可以的？

时态上仍然很纠结，不过从句子的表达来讲，如果选D的话: According to analyst, the gains reflect growing confidence in the economy to avoid recession blah blah blah。 "to avoid recession" 的动作执行者并不是很明确。也许这就是为什么OG会说 "the economy to avoid the recession is awkward and unclear". 而相比之下，A 则直接地说 "that the economy will avoid..."

在比较时态很难决定的时候，也许句意的明确是A 较好的原因。（个人觉得earlier in the year 可以看作时间节点，也可以看作一段时间，所以had feared, 或were fearing 都可以，不知道为什么OG说后者是错的，sighhh)

我在想，是不是因为【earlier in the year】的位置问题

无that，是想表达 to avoid the recession 【many were fearing】 earlier in the year
即earlier in the year修饰recession，又或者整个介词to avoid the recession

还是想说 avoid the recession 【many were fearing earlier in the year】
即修饰were fearing

加了that 就清楚了，不会存在修饰歧义了
