白勇对A的解释是so light 就近修饰了baggage所以错，但是SO... THAT...是状语，怎么能修是名词呢？

Put it into the context,

"...which could carry four persons or eight hundred pounds of baggage yet was so light that a person could easily portage it around impeding rapids."

It could be deduced that the part "yet was so light that a person could easily portage it around impeding rapids" is actually from "yet which was so light that..."
