Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium transmitted to humans by deer ticks . Generally deer ticks pick up the bacterium while in the larval stage from feeding on infected white-footed mice. However, certain other species on which the larvae feed do not harbor the bacterium. First, it should be "than anticipated" rather than "than they had anticipated". You can not find any clue of what "they", if right, refers to. It is better to use passive form here, namely, "anticipated".

Second, "foreseeable" should be better than "forseen", as the formal is descriptive in meaning.
